Gamification is the use of games and activities in the classroom. Gamification can be used in nearly every subject, and is a great way to increase student engagement and foster a positive classroom environment. It can be used to introduce a unit, as review or as a culmination of learning. As well, educational games are a great resource for students to access if they have finished their work early, or as a reward at the end of the week.

Some examples of gamification include Kahoot or other interactive quiz websites. Teachers can use pre-made quizzes or make their own, and students join the quiz with their school computers. The answers are all multiple choice, and the top players are shown. Students get excited about the game, and develop a friendly competition, while teachers can analyze the scores and questions afterwards to check progress.
